Nightingale’s Nursing Home’s team of staff work together to provide the best nursing care.

The Nursing Care Team

As the care home is family-run, all our team have become part of the family, and we provide a homely environment for both residents and their family.

The Sisters (RGNs)

Qualified nursing staff are on duty 24 hours a day. Our Sisters are all registered general nurses and are highly experienced in; P.E.G. feeding lines, pain management, catheterisation and non-invasive ventilation.

The Sisters are “hands on” working alongside the carers, this assists with the carers’ training and assures the resident’s needs are regularly assessed. They also encourage the resident’s families to be involved within their care plans.

The Carers

Our carers are trained internally and a high proportion of them have gained an N.V.Q. Others are in the process of N.V.Q training. All our staff pride themselves on their dedication to nursing care, and provide a warm and friendly approach to each individual.

The Cooks

Our qualified cooks provide a wide variety of menus, and special diets can be catered for. They provide four meals a day, three of which are hot meals the other being supper, which usually consists of a variety of sandwiches. There are also supplements morning and afternoon, such as cakes and biscuits.

All the food is cooked and prepared in our kitchen on site, and local produce is used to support the local community. The menu is displayed daily and the cooks encourage choices with good nutritional value.

Cook’s Assistant

The cook’s assistant helps the residents to decide what they would like to eat at each meal time. We also have a tea-lady whose role is to replenish water jugs in the resident’s rooms, give out hot drinks mid-morning and afternoon and see that visitors have refreshments too.

The Housekeeping Staff

The role of our housekeeper and their team is to ensure that the nursing home is clean and tidy at all times. There is a daily cleaning routine, as well daily laundry washes.
